My Favorite Thing is Monsters is made to look like the journal of the main character, Karen, a 10-year-old growing up in poverty in Chicago in the 1960’s. Once it picked up (for me), I read the remaining 3/4 of the book in less than a day.

My Favorite Thing is Monsters actually took me a little bit of time to “get into.” For the first few weeks of reading it, I would read a few pages, get bored, and put it down. So, I will give my summary and review of volume one but if my rating changes after finishing the story, I will post an edit. After hearing a few other people rave about this book, I finally checked it out from my local library.ĭisclaimer: this is volume one of two- the second part is set to be published in April 2018. At that time I was just breaking into the comic/graphic novel world and was eager for some good material.
